Translating a client’s vision into reality is the best part of my job. My elegant client knew exactly what she wanted when it came time to remodel her kitchen. She didn’t want to “reinvent the wheel” by changing the floor plan. She wanted to keep the design simple. We removed the cabinets above the peninsula to allow more light into the room.

My client loves peacocks and art deco. She found the beautiful peacock tiles which we sprinkled throughout the blue subway tile. I found fabric that mimicked a peacock’s feathers and we made bolsters and pillows to tie the sitting room and kitchen together. I chose a soft white for the cabinets and a muted white countertop with warm gold veining to avoid the harsh look of an all white kitchen.

We painted the alcove in the sitting area a warm terracotta to carry the theme of the peacock tiles beyond the kitchen area. For her, the pièce de résistance were the café-like pendants that flank the vent, which give the room some added bling.
